Fillings are also known as dental restorations materials. There are commonly two different dental restoration techniques.  The first technique, known as direct restoration, involves placing the filling into the prepared tooth and working on small filling scale type directly into the mouth of the patient.

The second technique, known as indirect restoration, however requires more work outside the tooth after taking impressions of the tooth / teeth being treated and preparing the desired filling type and material accordingly.

There are several materials used whilst filling teeth. Most common fill materials are white ceramic composite bonding.
